Coalescence Theatre Project is thrilled to announce the upcoming production of "Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation '' by India Nicole Burton, directed by Myesha-Tiara. India Nicole Burton and Myesha-Tiara werenominated for Jeff Awards in 2024 for their production of “Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation '' at Perceptions Theatre. This production also earned them both Chicago Black Excellence Awards earlier this year.   

Coalescence Theatre Project and The Black Artists League bring this powerful and thought-provoking play to Bloomington, IL, with a local cast of talented actors including Aurora Thorpe, Aneesah Phillips, Jajwanica Johnson, Autumn Nicole, Yaz Hamilton, Trancesca Jones, Chynna Miller, and Katecia Ingram

“Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation” will be presented at First Christian Church, 401 West Jefferson St, Bloomington, IL,on April 18th, 19th, 20th, and 25th at 7:30 PM, with matinee performances on April 21st and 28th at 2:30 PM.

"Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation" follows one woman’s journey to self-discovery through the stories of three courageous and prominent Black women who were members of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Movement:AngelaDavis, Assata Shakur, and Elaine Brown. This high-energy movement piece with poetry, monologues, dance, and song explores the dilemmas, obstacles, and joy of African American Women, chronicling the lifelong pursuit of justice by these founding women of the Civil Rights Movement.  

Director Myesha-Tiara brings her expertise and artistic vision to this production, ensuring an immersive and impactful experience for audiences. With a deep understanding of the play's themes and historical context, Myesha-Tiara creates a dynamic and relevant production that will resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.
